Description of area:
The Site is located from the southern-most beach access point at Kurrawa Park – Peerless Avenue, Mermaid Beach. The cell is on the southern side of the fenced area, with Casuarina sp. lining the hind dune boundary between the foredunes and adjacent residential development.
Objectives:
To improve the health and biodiversity assets of the foredunes, as well as engage community members about the importance of dune vegetation.
History:
A community dune care group was established after an industry community engagement day, which was to encourage community participation and increase awareness of the importance of dunes and dune vegetation. Community planting and weeding activities have been facilitated by BeachCare at the site ever since, approximately once every 2 months. Previous site in Mermaid Beach was just north of Mermaid Beach S.L.S.C.
Other Information:
Everyone is always welcome to come along to BeachCare community days; no experience necessary, all ages and fitness, bring along a hat, wear sunscreen, all equipment and refreshments are supplied.

Saturday 21st August from 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Saturday 16th October from 1:30pm – 3:30pm
